THE REPLACEMENT LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN (RDLP)

Wick has been classified as a primary growth area by the Vale of Glamorgan Council in its Replacement Local Development Plan (RDLP).

In the plan, Wick has been included as an affordable housing location where there will be a requirement for the provision of a minimum 50% affordable housing to meet the affordable housing needs of the local community.

In addition, the Council will require developers to provide a mix of market housing that will contribute to specific housing market needs of the community.

The RDLP proposal is for 50 houses (25 affordable) to the east of Heol Fain in Wick and adjacent to St James Gardens.

What are the issues to consider?:

Wick Community Council understand there is a need for affordable housing in rural areas of the Vale of Glamorgan.

However, Wick has seen a significant number of new houses built during the last 14 years.

An additional 50 houses will mean that the number of houses in Wick will have doubled from 201 (pre 2014) to 392, including 86 affordable homes representing 95.02%.

1. Question: Do you believe there is a need for more housing in Wick(required)
10. Are you in favour of activities that support our community such as the food hub and warm place?(required)

SECTION 2 – THE PLAYING FIELD

Note: This would be a ‘turn up and play’ activity with no charge. The Community Council would charge for use of changing rooms and showers if required

SECTION 3 – VOLUNTEERING

1. Are you broadly supportive of those plans and ambitions?(required)
