In the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Replacement Local Development Plan (RDLP) Wick has been identified as a Primary Settlement Area with an identified need for affordable housing led growth.

The Vale Council will require potential developers to provide a mix of market and affordable housing that will contribute to specific needs of the community in Wick. The proposal is for 50 houses (Minimum 25 affordable) to the east of Heol Fain in Wick and adjacent to St. James Gardens.


What are the issues to consider?:

Wick Community Council understand the need for affordable housing in rural areas of the Vale of Glamorgan, but also recognise that Wick has seen a significant amount of new houses built during the last 12 years.

An additional 50 houses will mean that the number of houses built in Wick will have doubled from 201 (pre 2014) to 392. This represents a 95.02% increase and is made up of 105 private homes and 86 affordable homes.
